WWC262 - Marsha's Challenge: All About Occasions

Hello and welcome!  This week we are creating occasion cards at The Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and Marsha is our hostess.

I wanted to make a spotlight background for this joyful girl. I started by drawing (in pencil) an off-center circle.  With a brush, I filled in the circle with clean water and then dropped in three different watercolors (yellow-green, green and blue-green) and let them blend.   I wanted the background to be mostly green as I associate that color with March.  After the panel dried, I erased the pencil line.  I stamped, Copic colored and fussy-cut my girl and then adhered on the watercolor.  I popped on an embossed sentiment and my card was complete.

WWC210 - Heidi's "All About Occasions" Challenge

Today, Heidi sponsors Watercooler Wednesday's All About Occasions Challenge.  My card is more about the season "Spring" although it is so versatile you could send this card for several different occasions.

I fell in love with this stamp set: Picket Fences Sweet Dear Friend.  A while back, I did a  similar CAS Card with TomBow markers and wanted to try a variation using Copic markers, a hand-inked border and some jewels.

I stamped the girls and sentiment in a row using Gina K Amalgam ink on XPress It paper and then colored with Copic markers in Springy colors.  I then framed the images with a scored border. Next, I wanted an inked accent border so used YG 25 to create a second band.  I adhered the XPress It top and inked accent border to a light green A4 card base.  I then added three Pretty Pink Posh Buttercream jewels and called the card done.

Copic colors:  V04, V17, B02, B24, YG01, YG03, Y08, Y35, RV02.  E00 (skin). Y00, YR31 &E50 for hair.

Fresh

Fresh...fresh year, fresh inspiration, fresh supplies.  When I saw Casology's prompt I was inspired.  In December, I saw this darling stamp set (Sweet Dear Friend by Picket Fences) and ordered it immediately.  The girls seemed very fresh and pure and I thought they would be fun to use in the new year.  Today was my first day to try them out, but I see many future cards as well.

In brainstorming, I came up with the clean and simple idea of a line of four girls plus the sentiment bordered by a scored band.  I embossed the girls on Bristol cardstock and then used my TomBow watercolor markers.  The images are sketchy and I wanted to use bright, fresh, vivid colors to bring them to life.  I kept the hair and face muted so that the focus was on the dresses.  

TomBow colors - Dresses:  933, 755, 173, 443.  Face: 990.  Hair:  990+055

UPDATE:  I was very excited that my card received Honorable Mention from CASology this week!
